Damiana leaf | Turnera diffusa | Organic
$8.00 – $35.00
Damiana is a key herbal aphrodisiac with a mild anti-depressant and anti-anxiety action. Therefore it is good to use when depression has affected libido. It is native to Mexico where this batch is grown organically. It has a distinctive smokey smell thanks to the aromatic oils in it and is often used as a cigarette alternative.
Damiana was an official medicine in the United States Formulary from 1888-1947. Damiana has not had much research performed on its actions, however in a formula with Ginseng (panax) and Ginkgo it had favourable results for menopausal women (Fisher, C 2009) and a recent observational study was performed with a combination supplement containing Damiana and showed an increase in Testosterone results (however this may have come from other herbs in the formula) as well as an increase in sexual satisfaction (1). There is some evidence from rat models that Damiana opens up the Nitric oxide pathway (2)
Damiana is found in our newest tea blend Dr Strangelove!
All of our teas are organic or wild harvested from natural surroundings. Enjoy!
