Detox Clinic

Detoxification is a process that can be supported with herbal preparations and nutritional supplements. Our innate detoxification system is comprised of our gut, liver, blood, lymph, skin & kidneys. These organs processes thousands of chemicals every day from the food we eat, the pollutants in the air we breathe and the contaminants in the things we ingest such as plastics as well as anything we absorb through our skin found in cosmetics or creams. Alcohol and drugs are also additional stressors on our detoxification system.

Who needs to do a Detox Clinic? Non-specific symptoms such as fatigue, hormonal problems, disturbed sleep, waking feeling tired, headaches, inflammation, brain fog & acne without a known cause can all be caused by disturbed detoxification pathways. Alcoholics, drug users, anyone who works in a high chemical environment such as manufacturers, trades-people and painters, as well as those who live in mouldy homes can all benefit from a detoxification programme. High liver enzymes determined from blood tests indicate that we may have fatty liver which comes from overeating or over consumption of alcohol. Kidney stones and kidney damage can also be signs that our detoxification pathways have been overburdened. Specific tests such as heavy metal testing can show the presence of toxic heavy metals. All of these signs & symptoms indicate a detoxification programme is needed.

If  we don’t look after our detoxification pathways then we can walk around with non-specific symptoms, feeling that they can’t be helped. Often we have gone to the doctor and all of our blood tests are normal and noone knows what is wrong with us but we know inside that something is not right. Detoxification programmes are a form of preventative and holistic health. Elimination of waste through the liver and kidneys needs to be effective. In the long term, if the detox pathways aren’t supported hormonal issues, reproductive issues, headaches and fatigue can continue to worsen. Inflammation in the body rises as metabolic waste builds up. We also need our gut to be working effectively in order to absorb the nutrients we need in order to detoxify properly.

The good news is that we can use herbs and key nutrients to help, and at the same time we can start identifying the environmental triggers. In your appointment we go over your diet & start you on a gentle detox programme designed to support your gut lining, liver, kidneys, lymphatic, immune & cardiovascular systems. We let you know what to expect as the body starts to increase its output and excretion of metabolites. During follow ups we update the plan and look at different organs in stages.

If you want to book in for a Detox Clinic, we send you a questionnaire to fill out beforehand. Please book in for the following:

  • 1 hour and 15 minute initial appointment ~ We go over your symptoms and questionnaire and develop you a personalised detoxification programme and we advise you on diet and lifestyle changes needed.
  • 30 minute follow up ~ You then go away and start the programme, coming back for a 45 minute follow up appointment to discuss the changes and implement the second phase of the plan.
  • 15 minute follow up ~ The final stage of the plan as well as maintenance is discussed and implemented. Further follow ups can be booked if necessary.

All appointments involve a referral to a medical practitioner if necessary. Further testing can be undertaken as part of your personalised Detoxification Programme.
