Fenugreek seeds | Trigonella foenum-graecum | Organic
$4.00 – $33.90
Fenugreek is a spicy curry-like herb, found in the spice cabinet in many kitchens. Its origins are Asian, European & Indian.
Fenugreek can be used for several main body systems.
Firstly, it is used as a galactagogue which means it helps increase breastmilk production. It must be taken 3 x daily for this effect which usually occurs within 24-48 hours.
It has also been shown to reduce blood glucose levels probably due to its fibre content but also perhaps due to the 4-hydroxyisoleucine. Trials have shown improved glucose control in type 2 diabetes, both fasting and after meals, reduced glucose in the urine, and reduced HbA1c and insulin levels (1).
Fenugreek also has beneficial effects in the lungs and gut, most probably again due to the mucilage and fibre content as well as the Flavonoids which exert anti-inflammatory effects.
More and more research is coming out on this exciting herb.
All of our teas are organic or wild harvested from natural surroundings. Enjoy!
