Cinnamon bark | Cinnamomum zeylanicum | Organic
$6.00 – $20.00
Cinnamon is primarily a digestive herb, its native country being India and Sri-Lanka, which we get sourced from either country. The inner bark is used as a culinary and medicinal herb and is distinctive by its aromatic pungency, courtesy of the volatile constituent cinnamaldehyde and its cousins.
Being anthelmentic means it kills parasites, stimulates peristalsis, the moving of the gut wall, it is not laxative but helps move the gut in a normal fashion. It also simultaneously stimulates and relaxes the bowel, helping reduce any stomach cramps along the way. It is perfect for relieving trapped gas and helping with gut motility, and also perfect for indigestion or tummy ache due to stress.
Recent reserach on the herb tells us that it helps reduce the spike in blood sugar after a meal so taken with food is the best way to enjoy cinnamon tea. It features in our Blood Sugar tea as well as Gone with the Wind – our digestive tea.
All of our teas are organic or wild harvested from natural surroundings. Enjoy!
