Immune Clinic

The Immune Clinic runs for the months of May, June, July & August. These months can be challenging for some people who struggle with immunity in particular winter ills and chills. Signs of a run down immune system are a failure to recover fully from colds or flu, catching more than 1 or 2 colds per winter through to the more serious infections such as glandular fever, and other infections which can stay with the immune system for years, affecting your overall functioning. Fatigue and stress can often be triggers or warning signs that tell us, you may need some assistance.

Our Immune Clinic specialises in helping you identify your triggers and warning signs as we help you become more competent at learning how to influence your immune system with foods, herbs and self-care. In your appointment we go over the foods you are consuming and determine what you should be eating for your lifestyle, age and gender plus how to address deficiencies with diet and supplements. We start you off on a herbal programme designed to treat your particular melody of immune challenges. As we see you in follow ups, we see what works for you and we are able to paint you a picture of how to look after you immunity.

If  we don’t look after our immune system when it is showing signs of distress, the immune system can go awry with untreated infections triggering the process of autoimmunity or a lowered immunity leading to cancer cell growth. This theory suggests that it is in fact an under-active innate immune system that leads to an overactive adaptive immunity as the body fails to recognise what is healthy tissue and what needs an immune response, or an underwhelming response which leads to tumours forming and spreading. However, low grade infection is not the only trigger of autoimmunity or a lowered immune system. Long term stress is often the final trigger, lowering resistance and allowing cells to replicate as an aberrant immune response goes unchecked. As the body is unable to produce enough endogenous fighters to respond to the task at hand, this process of molecular mimicry or tumour growth which started with a genetic tendency {nature} becomes a case of environmental influence {nurture}.
