Pregnancy Wellbeing Clinic

The Pregnancy Wellbeing Clinic is designed to support pregnant women to make the right choices around nutrition and holistic choices from the first trimester all the way through to the third trimester of pregnancy. We aim to inform you of the correct nutrition for pregnancy to help provide you with the best outcomes for you and your family through this exciting yet challenging time.

From the 1st trimester and the immediate changes that happen within the women’s body the first appointment helps you to navigate what foods contain the right nutrition for you and your growing baby. Often cravings and unhealthy eating habits can seem to pop up during pregnancy and we want to give you the tools to help you choose the right foods to crave. Often when we increase our nutrition, food cravings are eliminated. We help you to find safe herbs to help combat the morning sickness that often accompanies the first trimester as well as school you on the right supplements to take throughout pregnancy. If you build up the right nutrients at the beginning you wont have to play catch up later on. The body requires up to 1/3 more nutrition during pregnancy and we can help you determine the right food groups to steer towards. Studies have shown that what we eat during pregnancy affects our babies so we want you to know from the start what nutrients you should be getting and why.

From the second trimester we start to look at family history of both partners and what you can do to minimise risk of allergies & obesity plus to help feed your baby’s growing brain. At this stage it is easy to get anaemic or deficient in minerals if not supplementing so we advise on the correct supplementation and gut probiotics for your genealogy. Traditionally women have supplemented their diet with nutrient rich herbs throughout pregnancy. It is important to remember though that not all herbs are safe and qualified expertise is required to choose safe and appropriate herb teas to drink. We also help to navigate any issues you may be having with fluid retention, reflux or sleep that may be affecting your feelings of wellbeing.

From here we have a follow up at the beginning of the 3rd trimester in order to get you onto the right probiotics to help with successful breastfeeding, allergy prevention and to ensure that your gut flora are in the best place in preparation for baby’s birth. We start you on a herbal programme to prepare the uterus for birth which research has shown lowers certain types of complications at birth {}. We also inform you about the what to do after birth if there are any complications with mum or baby and how to help heal stitches, cradle cap, nappy rash and more with natural oils and creams.

Without the education around food and eating we can easily feel that our body does not behave in the way we would like it especially with the extra hormones. Without proper nutrition high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar levels and other complications can occur throughout pregnancy many of which can be minimised or prevented with good nutrition. We believe that together with good antenatal care from your midwife or GP we can help prepare you for birth in a natural and meaningful way so that you can enjoy your pregnancy and birth more naturally.

Our Pregnancy Wellbeing Clinic aims to help you identify your child’s potential family inheritance and help reduce or prevent complications with evidence based plans.
