Stress | Sleep Clinic
Price range: $160.00 through $320.00
Stress seems to affect most people at some stage or another in today’s world. This is often due to time restraints, financial pressure, relationship or work stress. Often old coping strategies are not working, or in other cases the stress is taking its toll physically ~ resulting in insomnia, anxiety, mood changes, irritability, fatigue, low motivation and hormonal issues. Sleep problems are common throughout life and affect people acutely or chronically. Insomnia can happen due to a variety of reasons but the signs are clear. The inability to get to sleep {sleep onset} or the inability to stay asleep {sleep maintenance}. This can be coupled with early morning waking or the inability to get out of bed in the morning. Insomnia affects our daily life, making this a struggle which we use stimulants to overcome. Unfortunately sleeping tablets are often addictive and can induce a feeling of grogginess the following day.
Stress can not only affect our nervous system but also our digestive system, our hormonal system and our immune systems. If we do not address stress at the time it can slide into depression, insomnia or chronic anxiety. In these cases medications can be useful and herbal remedies can work alongside them, however it is important to make sure you see a qualified practitioner in this case so we can co-prescribe herbs safely alongside medications. Stress is a key player in insomnia and unless we can learn how to manage the stress in our lives then our sleep issues will continue. The good news is that most of the time insomnia is fully treatable with herbal remedies, diet and lifestyle changes. Herbal remedies offer an alternative to sleeping tablets and generally work effectively in 90% of cases. We just need patience, perseverance and determination. At the same time we can start identifying triggers and warning signs for ourselves.
Our Sleep and Stress Clinic specialises in helping you identify your triggers and warning signs as we help you become more competent at learning how to influence your sleep pattern and stress levels with foods, herbs and self-care. In your appointment we go over the things you are doing during the daytime that may be affecting your sleep. We start you off on a herbal programme designed to treat your particular type of insomnia as well as the causes. As we see you in follow up appointments, we determine what lifestyle changes, supplements and herbs are helping you the most, as well as identify underlying triggers and signs. We are able to help you look after yourself by getting into good sleep habits and treating anxiety and depression holistically.
To get onto stress early {or late!} book into our Stress and Sleep Clinic:
- 1 hour and 15 minute initial appointment ~ We go over your symptoms and talk about what you may need to embark on your journey. We start with herbs and supplements that can help alleviate your symptoms and we assess your underlying triggers.
- 45 minute follow up ~ You then go away and start the treatments and lifestyle changes and come back to assess what has changed. We then either carry on unchanged or add and change the treatments to get a deeper kind of relief. We also start to address the underlying factors be it stress, digestion or immunity.
- 30 minute follow up ~ Further changes to your diet and lifestyle take longer to implement and if things are going well a maintenance plan can be made. For others, time and patience may require that you work on it for longer to get the desired results.
Further follow up appointments can be made in order to further track your progress.
All appointments involve a referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
