Thyme leaf & flower | Thymus vulgaris | Wildcrafted
$8.00 – $35.00
Thyme is primarily a digestive and lung, as well as culinary herb. Its native to the Mediterranean, however we source ours from the wild Thyme of central Otago hillsides. The herb also grows in gardens around the world. It has a distinctive smell thanks to the thymol as well as its 97 volatile oil constituents!
In the pulmonary system Thyme is used for cough as its antimicrobial properties work well here combined wth its anti-tussive and expectorant action, loosening phlegm and helping to expel it easily. Any type of bronchitis would benefit from the use of thyme as a tea or tincture. Its antimicrobial action also becomes useful in the stomach where upper intestinal bacterial or fungal issues can be helped by the antiseptic oils in Thyme, when drunk daily. Being anthelmentic means it kills parasites, as well as stimulates the moving of the gut wall helping reduce any stomach cramps along the way. It is perfect for use during any gut infection, food borne or parasitic.
Recent reserach on the herb tells us that it has strong antioxidant capacity particularly the carvacol present in thyme. This makes it a great tea for its protective effects as well as specific actions when needed.
All of our teas are organic or wild harvested from natural surroundings. Enjoy!
