This page is dedicated to those who want to know if they should come in and ask for help. It is a culmination of the thoughts we gained ourselves as we also started that journey once, and what we have learned so far…
Are you ready to begin?
Are you prepared to do what it takes? Healing requires effort. It may be in the form of exercises, taking medicines, changing attitudes, trying new things, changing old habits, slowing down, meditating, going to the gym, having a holiday or walking in nature.
At the beginning it takes effort. Until one day, it becomes effortless effort…
Are you ready to stop judging?
Judging can come in the form of judging ourselves too vigilantly, or judging others too vigilantly. Judging can keep us stuck in the same pattern of behaviour and it stops us from finding new solutions. Judging keeps us looking outward when we need to be looking inwards to begin to heal. So it’s best to stop, think, and find a new way…
Are you ready to stop blaming?
Blame can be in the form of blaming others, or blaming ourselves. Blaming can be done, but it doesn’t solve problems. Because whatever situation we are in, we can take steps to address it. Recognising the causes to your sickness is a very empowering process but there is always more than one cause, so blaming any one never helps (much)…
Are you ready to take a good look inside yourself?
Looking inside ourselves is the only way we can heal. We need to know what the problem is, and we need to be able to describe it. The better we understand the problem and where it came from, the better we can describe it to get the right help we need. Early warning signs appear frequently, but are also frequently ignored. Often we ignore them hoping they will go away. Early warning signs however are our saviours, because the earlier you get help the better and the easier it is to treat the problem…
Are you prepared to be honest?
Can you be honest with yourself? Can you identify honestly what is going on and tell your story? In terms of health, honesty is the best policy. The best way to be honest is to look at yourself without judgement or blame. Don’t be ashamed, whatever problem you’ve got, no doubt someone else has had it before, so you’re not alone. Only when we are honest can we realise something is a problem and ask for help…
Are you ready to take responsibility?
For your body, your health, and your life? After all your body is your home in this life, so why not look after it. What you do now affects your health for the future. Invest in your health because you only get one body, and the more you look after it, the more it will reward you. You only live once, so keeping fit and healthy is your responsibility and yours only. It is also, in our experience, one of the best things you can do in life…
Are you ready to spend time on yourself?
Read that question again. Are you ready to spend time on yourself? This is perhaps the most important question because if you don’t think you are, then you won’t follow through on the requirements needed to get well again. Whatever your commitments, life will be miserable if you aren’t able to enjoy it along the way. So if you are prepared to put yourself first for a while until it becomes habit, for the sake of others around you, then you are ready to begin…
So, are you ready to begin the journey?
